InfoComm’s CTS credential is the global standard for excellence in the AV industry. For the last few years my work activities have focused on the Telecomms and IT industry but emerging technologies like video conferencing and digital signage have required me to expand my skillset into the AV market. I studied the GEN102 AV Essentials online course and then attended the MECIA-run CTS Prep course in Dubai. These two programmes gave me a broad understanding of audio, video, display and networking technologies. Knowing what to expect from the exam gave me the confidence I needed – and within a month of attending the CTS Prep course I’d earned the CTS certificate.

Every AV Professional has to be aware that convergence of media is unstoppable: audio is not strictly audio and IT is not strictly IT anymore! Different technologies are merging and we’re forced to acquire expertise or learn new terminologies as they might become part of our daily business.

After studying Audiovisual Media full time for 4 years and working in this industry for nearly 15 years I was sceptical I’d learn anything new. But I’m very happy that I’ve attended the 3-day course in Dubai. The content has been lectured very clearly and I took benefit from the large experience from the tutor as well as from the other participants – many of whom have worked in the business even longer than me. It was definitely worth the investment in terms of time and money.

As an IT administrator with TECOM my knowledge and experience is really IT focused. Audiovisual technology has really been a bolt-on to my operational activities so it’s an area I’ve had to learn on the job. This course was a real eye-opener – it provided me with an insight into the science and technology behind the AV products I use on a daily basis. The content is superb and the experience of the other participants added great value. I’d recommend this course to every IT technician who’s expected to solve AV problems within their organization.

I've been in the AV industry for more than 10 years and attending this course gave me an in-depth overview of where I am in the development of my career as an AV technician. The AV Essentials course combines very nicely with the CTS Prep course to examine all aspects of the AV industry, from technology through to design, installation and industry best practice. Both the courses will greatly help me in answering the questions in the CTS exam. The AV industry is developing fast and I am looking forward to attend many such courses to continuously update my knowledge and expertise.

It was a good experience to attend such professional class conducted by a great instructor with real-life experience working in this industry. It wasn’t just theory - the course was filled with information on the practical implementation of technology in a broad range of applications.
